My one and only bespoke Belly Cast Commission from a friend. She and her husband made the cast, I painted the design.
A Belly Cast is a plaster sculpture of a pregnant woman’s body towards to the end of her pregnancy using strips of gauze/dressing saturated in wet plaster. Your pregnant body must be coated in vaseline first so that when the cast dries/sets, it can be removed easily.
As an expectant mother filled with anticipation, a belly cast can help prepare for the birth of your child.
Commissioning me to decorate your cast can be done before or after your child is born to create a lasting memory of the end of your pregnancy.
Painted designs and decorations are personal and may include spiritual and symbolic imagery of fertility, birth, gender, name meanings and anything that represents the attributes of your little one.
