Aeoniums
Painted in situ from life in the garden we were staying at in Melbourne, Australia, this quirky, plum/black roselike cactus attracted my attention. But rather than paint the subject against it’s original backdrop which was a creeper of waxy dark green leaves, (as seen in a previous photo (in context)), I chose to use a warm yellows, soft pinks and light apple greens both exaggerating and complimenting the aeoniums in the foreground.(See also photo: ‘Aeoniums’ paired with complementary colours)
